In the way that you will have manyfriends through out your life,
and you need them to get by. Anyone can claim to be a friend,
and you can claim any number of people as your friends, but we may
also recognize that not all these people will affect your life in
the same way.
Friendships, just like all relationships can bring emotions and
events into your life unexpectedly, the nature of these emotions
and events can often tell us more about a friendship
than can be communicated by words.
A true friendship will bring joy and comfort,
but will also bring strife and sorrow as you are empathetically
linked to a friend. At times their problems can become your own
and vice versa, but the actions taken on both sides of the relationship
is what will make evident, the friendships that will stand the tests of
time.
Time is the only real gauge by which we can measure a close
friendship. Acquaintances may grow into friendships as we learn that
the person is deserving of our trust, and is like minded in feelings
and actions,
just as many friendships will fade as we learn a person’s true nature.
These events are mostly inevitable and most people will tell you
that in the end you find only a handful of real friends.
A lot of good memories will bring you laughter and help keep
a friendship strong, but it is not what matters most.
If you can remember the bad times, and still laugh with one another,
than you know you have a real friend.
Some people can put the world on their backs
a few times and need no one to make it through a struggle,
but as we are still humans someone to lean on
can likely be the most valuable asset you’ll ever have.
Co-dependency is great in the way that it allows you to be unique
but unified and do incredible things all at once.
By having a friend you can talk to about anything,
you are giving yourself an invaluable resource for compassion,
insight, and often guidance.
Count your friends with open eyes,
but the ones you do count never let go, because within each other
you have the very fabric of what life, happiness, and
essentially humanity really mean.
